Artificial Intelligence - Technical University Varna
The multidisciplinary Bachelor’s programme “Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence” has been developed under the project BG05M2OP001-2.016-0008-C02 “Innovation, Science and Education for High Quality and Labour Market Relevance at Technical University of Varna and partners (INNOTECH PRO)”, funded under the Operational Programme “Science and Education for Smart Growth“, Priority Axis 2 “Education and Lifelong Learning”, co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund. Technical University – Gabrovo, University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy and University of Mining and Geology “St. Petersburg”. Ivan Rilski”, Bulgarian Industrial Association in Bulgaria, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce – Union of Bulgarian Business (BIA), Industrial Capital Association in Bulgaria.
The main objective of the study programme “Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence” is to prepare highly qualified and broadly profiled specialists with solid general background and in-depth knowledge to develop new ideas in the field of intelligent systems and artificial intelligence. They are leading specialists in the development and application of the principles, methods and tools of artificial intelligence, the creation, construction and implementation of integrated intelligent systems and information platforms in the global marketplace. The training includes knowledge and skills to work with modern computer technologies and industrial systems, as well as their application in various industrial fields and the global digital economy. The course is tailored to the requirements and needs of the modern fourth-generation ICT industry (Industry 4.0) and covers the most up-to-date tools and digital technologies, virtual engineering, internet and cloud technologies, engineering information management, as well as the educational and research programmes of leading European universities in England, Germany, France, Italy, etc.

Students will receive special training for professional positions enabling successful realization in various fields of engineering, design, research, expertise and many other creative and managerial activities. The broad profile and knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence allow graduates to successfully realize themselves as participants and managers of engineering, research and analysis units, experts, consultants, analysts, etc. During their studies, students become familiar with current methods and technologies in the field of artificial intelligence and the possibilities of their application; develop the ability to adapt to a dynamically changing work environment and technological situation; develop opportunities for self-learning and self-improvement. The major provides training and acquisition of skills necessary for careers in a very wide range of fields.
Graduates acquire the skills for activities such as: knowing, interpreting and applying theories, concepts, principles and laws in the field of artificial intelligence; formulating adequate judgement in situations characterized by incomplete or inaccurate information under conditions of uncertainty, and developing the ability to adapt to dynamically changing environments; applying innovative and intelligent methods and tools in solving complex problems; designing, implementing and tuning intelligent systems with self On this basis, they will be competitive in Bulgaria as well as in Europe and the European Education Area.
What are the admission requirements?
The competitive score of the applicants for the specialization “Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence (in Bulgarian)” is formed by adding one of the following grades to the grades of the secondary school diploma in mathematics and the highest grade in physics, informatics or information technology:
- the highest of the matriculation examination in:
– mathematics, multiplied by 3;
– or in physics multiplied by 3;
– or a mathematics profile examination multiplied by 3;
– or a proficiency examination in physics multiplied by 3;
– or a proficiency examination in computer science multiplied by 3;
– or a proficiency examination in information technology multiplied by 3;
- or a mathematics test (preliminary or regular) multiplied by 3.
The competitive score of the candidates for the specialization “Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence (in English)” is formed according to the above mentioned methodology after successful completion of an examination (preliminary or regular) OR a matriculation examination in English OR a recognized certificate of proficiency in English.
Recognized certificates from international English proficiency examinations as follows:
- FCE (First Certificate in English)
- CAE (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English)
- CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- IELTS (bands 6, 7, 8, 9)
- PITMAN – Higher Intermediate – Advanced
- TOEFL Paper, CBT, IBT (with a minimum of 550, 213 or 79 points respectively)
- PTE Academic (minimum 59 points)
- PTE General (minimum level 3),
