University of Economics-Varnais a higher school and is the oldest university on the Balkan Peninsula. The university was launchedon 14 May 1920 following the decision of Varna Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Over the years, the university has changed its name a number of times. Since its foundation up to 1935, the university is called Higher School of Commerce. Later it was renamed the Higher School of Economics and Social Sciences; “Saint Cyril Slavic of Bulgaria” State University of Varna and Higher Institute of National Economy. In 1990it was given its present name University of Economics-Varna.
Throughout its long history, the university has taught students from over 60 different countries. Today, about 12 700 Bulgarian and foreign students are studying at the university. University of Economics-Varna is accredited and certified as an academic and research organization according to the International Organization of Standardization (ISO 9001: 2008). The University collaborates and maintains contacts with over 130 international universities. University of Economics-Varna offers training for the educational-qualification degrees Bachelor and Master in three modes of study: full-time, part-time and distance learning.

Bachelor’s Degree Programmes
The training is conducted in English. The duration of the course of study is 4 years (8 semesters) and ends with the elaborating of diploma thesis.
The annual fee is € 2 500. The fee is payable in two equal installments of € 1 250 each before the start of each semester.

Admission to the University of Economics – Varna
The required application documents are as follows:
- Diploma of Secondary Education.
Diploma Supplement. In case there is no grading scale attached to the diploma, applicants have to submit an official document with the grading system description.
- Medical Reference. The document should be issued no earlier than one month prior to submitting the application documents to the UE-Varna.
- An official document issued by an accredited body certifying the applicant’s right to pursue their education at highereducation institutions in the country where secondary education was obtained. This document might be issued by the secondary school the candidate graduated from. It should contain the following text: “The education received confers the right to the applicant to continue his / her studies at higher education institutions in ………… (Country of the School).”
- Copy of passport / ID card.
- Two recent passportphotos (size: 4.5 / 3.5 cm).
ADMISSIONS CRITERIA:
In order to apply for studies to University Of Economics Varna, the minimum mean rating mark from specific
subjects, taught at school SHOULD NOT be less than 62% out of the maximum value of the
assessment system in the respective country.
